Making customs clearance easy for you:
Our streamlined process
Navigating international customs clearance can be a daunting task, with a multitude of regulations, paperwork and potential delays to contend with. At Custom Brokers, we understand the challenges involved and have developed a streamlined process to help our customers clear customs in Australia quickly and efficiently. Our team of experienced customs brokers and freight forwarders are dedicated to ensuring your goods arrive on time and in compliance with all customs requirements.
Review our step-by-step process for international customs clearance, so you can see exactly how we work and what you can expect when you choose to work with us.
- Authority from the customer: We require authority from you to act on your behalf when dealing with customs. This is done through Section 181 Authority, which enables us to manage the customs clearance process on behalf of our customers.
- Documentation: We require full and complete documentation from your supplier, including a commercial invoice, free trade agreement certificate, packing declaration and the bill of lading. This documentation is crucial for us to determine the correct classification of the goods and ensure compliance with Australian customs regulations.
- Classification: Our experienced team will review the goods to determine a Harmonized System (HS) Code classification. In some cases, we may need to seek further information from you to determine the correct classification. This may involve requesting additional documentation, such as brochures or product specifications.
- Import declaration: Once we have classified the goods, we will make a N10 full import declaration to the Australian Border Force. This declaration will include all the necessary information required by customs, such as the value of the goods and the taxes owing. The Australian Border Force will then return to us the taxes owing and any conditions of import clearance that needs to be met.
Invoicing: We will invoice you for our fees and the taxes owing prior to the arrival of the goods. This ensures that all charges are paid upfront and there are no delays or issues with the release of the goods from customs.
Custom Brokers takes pride in our ability to navigate the complexities of international customs clearance. Our experienced team will work closely with you every step of the way to ensure that your goods are cleared quickly and efficiently. If you have any questions about our process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
